14th Annual Pine Trees Classic

Axel Irons continues his dad's legacy and surfs with Uncle Bruce at Pine Trees

During the 14th Annual Irons Brothers Pine Trees Classic, the community of Hanalei, Kauai, finally got to witness what they’ve been waiting for since the passing of the late and legendary Andy Irons. Four-year old Axel Irons paddled out with Uncle Bruce and, for the first time, competed in the local competition that was founded by his father. It was a special day, not only for the kids and community of Kauai, but also for the Irons family. Pine Trees, a spot located smack-dab in the middle of Hanalei Bay, was the lineup that Andy and Bruce grew up in. “The reason that we put this thing on was to give back to Pine Trees and Hanalei,” said Bruce. “This is our training grounds. Me and my brother would surf here every day, no matter what.”
