Last year, Adriano De Souza capped off his World Title with a victory at Pipeline as he, Mick Fanning, and Gabriel Medina fought to the bitter end for the lead in the rankings. This year, the drama of the World Title race has died down as John John Florence clinched the championship at the Mio Rip Curl Pro in October. While we’re not in for the title showdown that we’ve seen for the past several years at Pipe, it also means that the spotlight could shine on many other competitors when the Billabong Pipe Masters waiting period begins December 8th.
