(Halifax, NS) – The Canadian Surf Film Festival (CSFF) kicks off its second annual event this Thursday, September 29, welcoming special guests and an exciting new sponsorship by tech leader, Google.
“It’s a real vote of confidence to have the support of an operation like Google,” says CSFF Development Director, Keith Maddison. “And to be able to partner with them on their journey with pro surfer Raph Bruhwiler, who we’re hosting at our Festival this year, is an amazing opportunity for the Canadian Surf Film Festival.”
Google recently partnered with professional surfer Raph Bruhwiler, using the Google Search Story campaign to track his discovery of yet un-surfed waves on Google Earth. Bruhwiler is a guest at this year’s CSFF to present West Coast Surf Trip, his submission to the Short Film Challenge, as well as the film, Quiksilver Cypher Challenge.

Other CSFF special guests include, Le Ann Curren, professional surfer and daughter of surf legend Tom Curren, presenting her film Titan Kids on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 8:30 p.m.; professional surfer Nico Manos presenting his Short Film Challenge submission, East North East, on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.; surfer and rock star Matt Mays presenting his short, Surfer’s Road; and Patagonia Brand Ambassador Keith Malloy presenting his film, Come Hell or High Water on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. . The CSFF jury is also comprised of several visiting and esteemed surf aficionados including Grant Ellis, photo editor at Surfer Magazine; Scott Hulet, editor at The Surfer’s Journal; Tyler Breuer, founder of SMASH New York; and Devon Howard, surfer and California-based freelance journalist.
