California Surf Museum presents one of the finest ukulele players in the world in a fundraiser for the California Surf Museum
Friday, November 20th
Jake Shimabukuro, one of the best ukulele players in the world, comes to Oceanside Friday, November 20th. The concert will be held at the Grace Theater, located at 102 North Freeman Street, Oceanside, CA. Show time is 8:00 pm and doors open to the general public at 6:30 p.m. General admission is $35 and for members of the California Surf Museum (CSM), general admission is $30. Tickets for the VIP Reception at the California Surf Museum, which include dinner, drinks, a private visit by Jake Shimabukuro and Premiere Seating for the concert, are available for $75, and for CSM members $55. Proceeds from the concert go to the California Surf Museum.
Jake Shimabukuro’s (shee-ma-BOO-koo-row) virtuosity on the four-stringed instrument defies label or category. Playing jazz, blues, funk, classical, bluegrass, folk, flamenco, and rock, Jake’s mission is to show everyone that the instrument is capable of so much more than the Hawaiian music usually associated with it. Jake has played and recorded with a treasure trove of other musicians including Jimmy Buffet, Diana Krall, Fiona Apple, Bobby McFerrin, and Ziggy Marley, just to name a few. He has also appeared on The Late Show with Conan O’Brien. His new LIVE CD was released to rave reviews.
Jake recently finished work on the music score of “HighWater” by Dana Brown, producer of “Step Into Liquid.” HighWater is about life surfing on the North Shore of Hawaii during the prestigious Triple Crown of Surfing professional surfing competition.
Come join us for a musical experience you’ll never forget!
Sponsors for the evening include FUEL TV, The Fish Joint, Mary’s Lumpia, Kona Brewing Company, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, and SmartWater.
Tickets maybe purchased on line at californaisurffestival.com or surfmuseum.org or for more information on tickets, call (760) 721-6876.
