Surfrider Foundation Celebrity Expression Session September 12
at Surfrider Beach
San Clemente, CA (July 31, 2009) – On September 12, celebrities from music, film and television will unite to raise ocean awareness at the Surfrider Foundation’s 4th Annual Celebrity Expression Session at First Point, Surfrider Beach in Malibu as part of the Malibu Surfing Association’s MSA Classic invitational contest.
Truly a one-of-a-kind event, the Celebrity Expression Session allows celebrities to show off their surfing skills and moves in a free surf format, while raising funds and awareness for the Surfrider Foundation. Past participants including Jason Mraz, Sal Masekela, David Chokachi, Minnie Driver, Flea and Brandon Boyd have raised over $5,000 for the Foundation and its continued efforts to protect our coastlines.
“This isn’t some wingy 'push the celebrity into a wave’ type of event,” says Matt McClain, Surfrider Foundation’s Director of Marketing and Communications. “These guys are going to be out there working First Point to raise money to help keep our oceans, waves and beaches clean.”
The MSA Classic – the premier contest in the Coalition of Surfing Clubs annual series – will host the Surfrider Foundation’s Celebrity Expression Session for the second year in a row. The MSA Classic, first held in 1962, now has over 275 athletes representing elite surfing clubs from around the world.
Admission to the Surfrider Foundation Celebrity Expression Session and MSA Classic are free.
