The news media is reporting that a 6.5-magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of California today. The quake began at approximately 4.27 p.m, Saturday and has effected the areas in and around Eureka. According to a report from the LA Times‘ website, thus far, the damage seems minimal.
“Right now it’s very preliminary but there does not seem to be any damage that is overly significant.” said Capt. Dale Cannon to the LA Times. “We’ve got some minor glass breakage, some gas mains affected and some power lines down.”
