The Quiksilver Surf Shop Challenge Hawaii Qualifier went down on August 4th @ Kewalos in Honolulu, HI.
With a South Swell producing consistent 2-3′ surf throughout the contest, the shops were frothing for the chance to win a trip to the finals, $10k, a full page ad and a grip of goodies from Quiksilver, DC Shoes & Sector 9!!
Hi Tec Surf, from Maui, surfed strong all day. With Quiksilver Retail Store Honolulu and Local Motion following close behind. During the finals, Quiksilver team rider Keanu Asing (Local Motion) boosted a frontside air reverse to claim the “DC Most Progressive Surfer” award; $250 & a DC incase skate/laptop bag.
Unfortunately, Hi Tec Surf was disqualified post event, due to the fact that they only had 1 employee surfing on their team.
This technicality results in the Quiksilver Retail Store Honolulu winning the Hawaii Qualifier!!
Thanks to all the shops who came out! Thanks for all your support throughout the years from all the QSSC sponsors: Quiksilver, Surfer. DC. Sector 9. Wavewatch, ASR, Surf Expo & BRA!!!
Big thanks to Darren Brilhart, Wendell, Tommy Asing & the whole crew who setup and produced the event! And of course the Moncata’s who represent Quiksilver in Hawaii!!
