CLIP OF THE WEEK: BRISK
Jack Freestone set a high bar this week with the release of “Brisk.” This four-and-a-half-minute long clip is a seamless edit featuring Freestone, Teale Vanner, and a cameo appearance by Bobby Martinez. Freestone is at the top of his generation, and his surfing displayed here further strengthens his reputation for being one of the most talented surfers alive today. With any luck, we’ll see him on tour next year.
Leo Fioravanti Is Back
After suffering a broken back while surfing Pipe last winter, Leo Fioravanti found himself in a precarious position. An injury of that magnitude could’ve ended his career and cast the Italian back into the streets of Rome. But Fioravanti fought back, healed himself, and has returned to the lineup. As shown in this clip, he hasn’t lost a beat.
Quick and Slow with Tyler Warren
Famed surfer and artist Tyler Warren puts an entire quiver to the test in “Quick and Slow.” Whether he’s gracefully perched on the nose on his longboard or laying it on rail amid a heaving Indonesian setup on a shorter board, Warren seems equally at ease. For a slice of what good surfing looks like, regardless of the craft, give this clip a watch.
Three Sessions with Machado
It’s been too long since we’ve seen an edit with Rob Machado. This week, Machado brought us back into his world when he produced “3 Minutes, 3 Sessions,” composed of, err, three sessions in just about three minutes. Needless to say, it’s refreshing to see Rob’s powerful-yet-delicate style again in perfect conditions.
Jamie O’Brien Indo Skipper Shredding
Jamie O’ recently returned from his annual summer Indo trip and, as we’ve come to expect, he scored. But there was something a little different about this adventure: as shown in this clip, Jamie rode a soft top on more than one occasion. As you can see from the footage above, Jamie shows us that while these sleds may look unassuming, they can stand up to some progressive surfing.
