It was supposed to be perfect. Big swell. Light winds. Good sand. Only 11 more heats left to run. And all of those things held true — besides the whole perfect thing. Turns out, Hossegor isn’t built to sustain a swell this big at the moment. France woke up this morning to waves breaking out as far as Kieren Perrow’s eye could see and an inside section that looked more like what Dante describes in Inferno than it did a feasible option for a surf contest. And so we wait. Tomorrow? Maybe, if the winds cooperate. If not, then Sunday it is. Check back on Monday for a freesurf gallery from a little sandbank just down the street.
