LOTW runs for seven days, with the week’s most brilliant submissions picked and posted every Monday on surfingmagazine.com. There are two ways to write in: send an email to email@example.com, or use the Write a Letter tab on our Facebook page.Monday! Great day to get put in your place — walking around in clean clothes, with a shiny board, on a clean sandy beach, like a gen-u-ine surf baller. Then f—kin’ Steve in Dubai writes a letter that makes your whole existence seem like a hamster wheel and a food dish in a pet store window. Super, thanks Steve.
Letter of the Week: Desert Storm-rider
What do you do when it’s 121 degrees outside? What do you do when its the middle of summer in the Arabian desert and the Persian Gulf is 92 degrees and flat? What do you do when you talk to the boys back home in SD and its a summer south and Fourth of July weekend is coming up and you’re not there? Well, I leave work early, drive 8 hours through the empty roads of Oman and surf windblown monsoon storm surf for 24 hours. I sleep on the beach, eat fish, drink warm beer and snap some misleading photos for the boys back home — and then drive back. And do it again the next weekend, because I’ll never get my fix.

Hats off, Steve, for emasculating an entire community. Now you can steez it up in (nearly) bankrupt Dubai thanks to our generous friends at RVCA, who support your commitment to the cause. New threads are on the way. For the current week, Electric Visual has this collection of gear on offer for the wisest, the funniest, the most inspiring or offensive or unorthodox letter to grace our inbox. Step right up.
