Costa Mesa, CA (September 28, 2009): Rip Curl International has released its latest high performance surf film, Rubber Soul 2, and will be distributing it digitally through a downloadable and preview option on ripcurl.com.
The film features Rip Curl’s leading surfers, including Mick Fanning, Owen Wright, Taylor Knox, Matt Wilkinson, Ricky Basnett, Stuey Kennedy, and Steph Gilmore, showing up and blowing up at a host of coldwater waves around the world.
“This film aims to showcase our team putting the bread and butter of our brand, our wetsuits, to the test in waves all over the world,” said Dylan Slater, Rip Curl USA marketing director. “The film pays homage to what has been our brand’s catalyst, but it’s still about progressive surfing. Owen Wright shows why he is becoming regarded as the next big thing in surfing.”
Rip Curl started as a wetsuit company in the 1960s and quickly revolutionized the market with a host of unique designs and technologies. The years since have been both colorful and influential, with Rip Curl’s designers managing to stay at the forefront of wetsuit innovation.
The brand’s most recent conquest was the release of the Rip Curl H-Bomb – the world’s first power-heated wetsuit, currently nominated for SIMA’s “Wetsuit of the Year”. The H-Bomb enables users to keep warm via heating elements lining the back of the wetsuit. The heating elements are powered by two lithium Ion batteries, and the elements are strategically placed to warm the user’s core, which in turn allows the body to keep warm blood flowing to the user’s extremities.
