LOS ANGELES October 6, 2009 – The Jim Beam Surftag U.S. Series Final Qualifying Round will take place at Harbor Beach in Oceanside, CA Sunday, October 11th. Sixteen teams from San Diego County and neighboring regions will fight for a spot to compete in the finals in Huntington Beach and an opportunity to be crowned the Best Surf Club in California.

In addition to the “Drive Thru” series, Encinitas resident and world renown surfer Benji Weatherly stars in many surf films, hosts the Surferpoll and recently directed and produced “Life as a Movie”.

Although he is keeping his teammates a secret, he is boasting an all-star crew. “I heard from my friend Kalani Robb that the Jim Beam Surftag event is a blast and I thought I would throw a team together for the last qualifying round in Oceanside!”

All spots are filled up for the last qualifying round in Oceanside, CA and registration is closed. The top 8 teams from each of the three qualifiers – Manhattan Beach, Ventura and Oceanside – will advance to the Jim Beam Surftag U.S. Series Championships in Huntington Beach, CA – November 13-14.

A $5,000 prize purse will be offered at each of the first three events and $10,000 will be offered for the final contest. Up to 16 teams will participate in each event.
