Current ASP World No. 1 Adriano de Souza Injures Knee in the Maldives

SAO PAULO, Brasil (Wednesday, June 29, 2011) - Adriano de Souza (BRA), 24, current ASP World No. 1, has been a busy man during the mid-season break. An extended stay in Northern Sumatra bore witness to some powerful surfing from the young natural-footer, but a secondary trip to the Maldives has put the Brazilian's ASP World Title hopes in Jeopardy. Surfline reports:

On June 26th, 24-year-old Adriano De Souza injured his right knee while on a freesurf trip to the Maldives. De Souza made the journey home to San Paulo immediately to assess and tend to the injury. While more tests are needed, at first examination, local doctors expect recovery to take between ten days and two months.
