(Huntington Beach, CA) - August 7, 2011 — On the back of an incredibly strong 2011 ASP Women's World Tour run, Sally Fitzgibbons claims her third win of the season with an amazing performance at the final stop of the tour, the NIKE US Open of Surfing.
With a high score of 14.23, Sally takes the win over Lakey Peterson who also had a strong showing leading up to the finals. Sally ended the 2011 season in the number two spot. It was a well-deserved win for the young Aussie who was the youngest and fastest surfer, male or female, to ever qualify for the ASP World Tour.
"I've always wanted to win here," said Sally. "I've been coming here for five years now and every time I see someone chaired up the beach, I've always wanted that to be me. It was a great final. Lakey surfed awesome all week and that really challenged and pushed me. These are the moments I worked so hard for and I couldn't be happier!"
"We are so proud of Sally," said Danielle Beck, Vice President of Marketing, Roxy. "She's been in the best shape of her life. She's on fire and it's incredible for her to end the season with a huge win like this."
Anchored by the world’s largest professional surfing competition, the $460,000 US Open is a pivotal point on the ASP World Tour for both the men and women.
