LOWER TRESTLES, California (Monday, September 14, 2009) – The Hurley Pro Trestles, Event No. 6 of 10 on the 2009 ASP World Tour, will return to the cobblestone lineup of Lower Trestles today where the world’s best surfers will battle it out in the elimination Round 2 and possible part of Round 3.
“I’d like to run 18 heats again,” Pat O’Connell, Hurley Pro Trestles Contest Director said. “We have two swells running now. We have a little southwest and the leftover northwest, so it looks more like a typical day at Trestles today, so I think everybody is pretty stoked. I think everybody dealt with some pretty weird conditions yesterday and today is a lot better.”
Surfline, official forecasters of the Hurley Pro Trestles, is calling for today’s fetch of Northwest swell to drop slightly today and are still tracking a south swell for later in the week.
First up this morning will be former ASP World Champion (2001) C.J. Hobgood (USA), 30, up against 2009 ASP Dream Tour rookie Marlon Lipke (DEU), 25, in Heat 3 of Round 2 at the Hurley Pro Trestles.
