Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast Round 1 On LIVE at Snapper Rocks

COOLANGATTA, Queensland/Australia (Saturday, February 27, 2010) – Round 1 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover has been called ON this morning, with the first heat hitting the water in clean two-to-three foot (1 metre) waves at Snapper Rocks at 8:30am.

The opening event of the 2010 ASP World Tour season, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast will turn on the world’s best surfers in the world’s best waves this morning, taking advantage of the swell on offer for what has been termed, “the greatest assemblage of surfing talent in history.”

“We’ve got some beautiful little waves breaking behind the rock this morning and we’ll be getting underway with the men’s Round 1 at 8:30am,” Rod Brooks, Quiksilver Pro Contest Director, said. “We have some really exciting match-ups in the opening round of competition and we’re excited to get the 2010 ASP World Tour season started today.”

Up first this morning will be California uber talent Dane Reynolds (USA), 24, up against Roy Powers (HAW), 29, and 2010 ASP Dream Tour rookie Brett Simpson (USA), 25.

For the first time in the event’s storied nine-year history, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast will be broadcast LIVE on FUEL TV in Australia, beaming the world’s best surfing right into your living room.
