Huntington Beach, Calif. (June 26, 2012)-- Quiksilver crowned Daniel Glenn 2012 'King of the Groms' winner in Huntington Beach on Monday in a competition that saw some impressive surf by 64 of the top groms in the country, ages 8-16.
In addition to winning the title and a $600 cash prize, 15-year-old Glenn will also be going on a trip to the Quiksilver ProFrance to compete in the Global King of the Groms World Championships this September.
"Growing up in Florida, I had always dreamed of winning the Quiksilver King of the Groms," said Daniel Glenn. "Now that I have won in the US, I have a chance to make my dream come true by competing in France!"
The skins format competition was held in waist-to-chest high all day — glassy in the morning, with on shores in the afternoon. It was a battle until the final heat between Glenn and Davis Freud with Glenn pulling ahead in the final heat of the day with a massive victory.
Daniel Glenn will join groms from around the world in the next round of competition, when the Quiksilver King of The Groms World Championships arrive in France this Fall in conjunction with the Quiksilver Pro France.
The DC “Best Maneuver” $250 prize was given to Horoto Ohara for huge forehand Ariel to reverse.
