Base Camp Launches First BSA Level 1 Surfing Course in Morocco

Base Camp, in collaboration with Surf Berbere, are launching the first ever BSA level 1 surfing instructor and performance course on Morocco’s south west coast. The surf camp is located in Taghazout, 12 miles North of Agadir.

The first of several, two week BSA Level 1 Surf Performance/Instructor Courses will take place from 15th – 28th Feb 2010.

The courses are an intensive two weeks intended to develop practical as well as theoretical surfing skills through daily lessons and exercises. The professional instructors will offer one on one coaching as well as group instruction time and individual video analysis sessions at the end of each day.

Part of the two week course also involves travel to various locations outside of Taghazout including breaks off Tifnit, Sidi, Bibi or Mirleft. At the same time each client will be working on their skills in preparation for the BSA Level 1 Assessment.

Accommodation, food, transport and hospitality in resort is all provided by James Bailey, director or Surf Berbere and his staff.

The pre-requisite for Base Camps BSA instructor course is 6 weeks previous surfing experience, however candidates for the perfomance camp can join with less experience.

Upon booking, clients can access Base Camp’s growing online community through an Intranet that provides clients with 24-hour access to course itineraries, account information, a job recruitment service, message board and media area. This, combined with knowledgeable and professional advice from informed staff in the UK office, allows Base Camp clients to find and prepare the best course for them; whether it’s part of a career break, a gap year or a fast track into the industry.
Base Camp General Manager, Alex Berman, comments.
'We’re extremely excited to launch a surf course in Morocco. It’s been a long time goal of ours because of Taghazout’s burgeoning surf scene, reputation for great waves and good, year round weather. Our partners at Surf Berbere are consummate professionals, and the course will become a welcome addition to our ever growing summer programme”.
