Out with the conventional seated dinner, the round company exclusive tables… the 2009 Waterman’s Ball was more festive.
The European surf industry gala event, organized by EuroSIMA, aimed to raise funds to promote ecological and environmental organizations whose efforts are focused on enhancing the oceanic and mountain environment.
On Friday, October 2nd, 2009, the trend at the Hossegor Casino was the “James Bond look”. The 350 attendees – business leaders, institutions, celebrities, surfing legends – were invited to follow the “Casino Royale” dress code, and be imaginative and fun!
It was also the appropriate opportunity to hold the EuroSIMA Industry Awards ceremony honoring and celebrating companies, athletes and personalities for their outstanding contribution to the development of the sport, business and culture of surfing in Europe.
A privileged moment for one and all to meet in a laid back environment, and reinforce the links between the actors of the surf industry.
ECOLOGICAL INNOVATION AWARD
A jury of experts, gathered by EuroSIMA Cluster, assigned the “Ecological Innovation Award” of 5000 euros to the brand FCS for its Green Flex project. FCS uses post-consumer material to develop a new fin material that maintains the strength and flex properties equal to the classic fins.
SURF AD CAMPAIGN OF THE YEAR AWARD
Thousands of internet users voted to give the “Surf Ad Campaign of the Year” award to the ad campaign Insight Dopamine, awarded for its creativity.
PERFORMANCE BRAND OF THE YEAR AWARD
The “Performance Brand of the Year” award was given to DC that had an exemplary year through product development, increased brand recognition and appeal.
EUROPEAN ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARD
The EuroSIMA Board of Directors honored Joan Duru with the “European Athlete of the Year” award for his performances on the WQS where he is now placed in 1st position.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Miguel Azpiroz, General Manager of Olatu (Pukas/Lost), received the " Lifetime Achievement " award for his active contribution to the development of the surf industry, culture and sports in Spain.
