About the Film
"Under the Sun" is a documentary film shot in Byron Bay and the Gold Coast, Australia that explores the roots of surfing commercialism. Often dark and subversive, this brilliant super 16mm film strikes a compelling story through stunning surfing and never-before-seen 70's footage. The film was made with the support of Ubiquity Records.

Featuring Surfers: Dave Rastovich, Nat Young, Beau Young, Rabbit Bartholomew, Dean Morrison, Mick Fanning, Albe Falzon, and Kelly Slater.

About Cyrus Sutton
Cyrus Sutton got his start in filmmaking by working on the other side of the lens as a professional surfer. His first movie "Riding Waves", won the Best Cinematography at the X-Dance Film Festival. Cyrus won an Emmy Award for his work as writer and director of photography on "Next Wave: A Tsunami Relief Story" where he traveled to Sumatra to document the efforts of the non-profit organization Surf Aid. He has since directed a number of independent documentaries and currently runs Korduroy.TV. His clients include Patagonia, Corona Beer, Alaskan Airlines, Pizza My Heart, and Quiksilver.
