Bobby Martinez Signature Film Premiere

What do you get when you add together an action packed new surf movie, a sick venue like the Wavehouse, the Reef dream team, a hand full of graffiti artists and as many people as Mission Beach can handle? You get nothing less than the premier of Reef’s new film Mixed Tape: Volume One, starring last year’s WCT Rookie of the Year, Bobby Martinez. The film follows Bobby from childhood, learning to surf Rincon, to his rookie year of upsetting stars of the WCT, to his second year on tour considered as a major threat for the world title. {{{Insight}}} from his father, Rob Machado and Al Merrick illustrate the long road Bobby has traveled towards stardom. Mixed Tape also showcases Bobby’s fellow Reef riders like Mick Fanning, Brad Gerlach, Rob Machado, Ben Bourgeois and Sean Moody tearing up waves from France to Tahiti. On hand to celebrate the premier with Bobby were surfing’s most dominant backside surfers: Damien Hobgood fresh off of his Teahupo’o victory, Cory Lopez, Brad Gerlach and Cheyne Magnussen. As if the new flick and pro appearances weren’t enough, the Wavehouse and Reef supplied a huge DJ stage, more HD TVs than Best Buy, a wall with local graffiti artists creating a large mural, a booth giving away free gifts from Fuel TV and riders tearing up the Wavehouse’s main Flowrider. If you were in San Diego May 25th and weren’t at the premier, you missed a great movie and a great night, both to honor and celebrate one of surfing’s greatest individuals.
