The word legend is overused.

Your friend who took his pants off and ran around the bar on Saturday night? He’s not a legend. His name is Chad and he’s drunk.

Clyde Aikau, on the other hand, is a legend. A proper one.

At 66-years-old, Clyde inspired everybody by surfing maxing Waimea Bay at the Quiksilver In Memory Of Eddie Aikau big wave event. He could’ve just paddled out and sat on the shoulder. But, just like his brother, Clyde went.

In this short video, he takes us through a brutal wipeout he sustained in the process. The words that resonate with us the most?

“My body is shot, but my soul is strong.”
