Billabong's Design for Humanity: All the Beautiful People

Beautiful girls, good music, and a good cause are all key ingredients in cooking up a rager. Judging by the throbbing pain in my head and my slightly muted eardrums the following morning, Billabong clearly knows how to throw a party. Taking place on Thursday, April 26th in the swanky Avalon Club in downtown Hollywood, Billabong's Design for Humanity event featured a fashion show consisting of bronzed beauties adorned in high fashion, a silent art auction, and a performance by Los Angeles' own Shiny Toy Guns that blew the roof of the building. With a stacked trinity like that, failure was never an option.

With the proceeds from the event benefiting SurfAid International, you could feel good about being bad. Art and apparel are still up for bidding through a secure eBay account open to the public until May 6th, so there's still time for you to add some flair to that space above your couch and some style to your wardrobe. With 100 percent of the proceeds of the auction going to SurfAid, there has never been a better opportunity to throw down some cash for a good cause.

SurfAid International is a non-profit humanitarian aid organization that runs community-based health, education, and disease prevention programs in village areas of the Mentawai Islands and Nias region of Western Sumatra. Spending the night rocking out to Shiny Toy Guns, ogling beautiful girls, and bidding on some art all for a good cause beats the hell out of the typical Thursday night stay at home and wish you were somewhere else routine. The party definitely fell into the "all-time" list.

The event was a total success. Billabong Women's Team Manager Megan Brainard said, "This was really a groundbreaking event for the surf industry. With the fashion show, art auction, and the live show being broadcast across the Web, we were able to reach a lot of people that night. It really felt monumental." It was a damn fine party for a damn good cause. Remember, you can still bid on art and fashion by checking out the auction.
