Human Touch

Inside the mind of Tyler Wright

The kids are all Wright. Owen, Tyler, and Mikey have been feeding off each other since they were first tossed into the shorebreak by dear old dad. Tyler has grown into a powerful young surfer and a fierce competitor, winning the Beachley Classic at 14 in 2008 and going on to claim the ASP Women’s World Tour Rookie of the Year award in 2011. This year she finished at No. 4 in the world, and the few surfers to finish above her will be looking over their shoulders for the up-and-comer next season.

Private Party:
I would want to have a massive gathering of family and friends with food, drinks, a fire, music, fireworks, and marshmallows on the beach.

My Worst:
Every morning after an event finishes I'm exhausted and won’t get out of bed. The family knows to steer clear until around lunchtime.

World View:
Save the whales, world peace (according to the Miss United States Pageant, these are required responses to this question), go green and stay clean.

Dream Session:
6- to 8-foot perfection with no one out but family and close friends.

Anytime I get stuck with the dishes.

My Bad:
I'm always eating the last bit of dessert at dinner. Whoops.

Hall of Fame:
My family, The Avengers and, of course, The Justice League.
