SEX, SURFER POLL, & ROCK N' ROLL Surfing's Biggest Night Readies to Explode

There's nothing like a night out on the town on your anniversary to rekindle the romance, and for SURFER Magazine and the Surfer Poll Awards, love is definitely in the air. At 8 p.m. on the night of Tuesday, September 11, The Grove of Anaheim will host surfing's biggest awards show, the 35th Annual Surfer Poll and Video Awards. This year's Surfer Poll promises to blow up bigger than ever as an unprecedented list of heavy hitters will make their way down the red carpet and into the history books.

Hosting the big night will be the always entertaining and ever-charismatic figures of Sal Masekela and professional surfer Benji Weatherly. Proving that this year's Surfer Poll will be bigger, better, and louder than ever, the event will also feature a live performance by Angels and Airwaves that's sure to be a crowd pleaser. If that wasn't enough, Aussie skater hellman Jake Brown (The bloke that narrowly escaped death after falling 40 feet onto the flats of an X-Games halfpipe) as well as big-wave legend Brock Little and a slew of others will act as guest presenters. With a star-stacked crew like that on hand, you can't afford to miss out on this year's Surfer Poll.

Let's not forget about the onslaught of mind-blowing videos released this year that are up for the video awards section of the night. Trilogy, Young Guns 3, and Down the Barrel mark but the tip of a colossal iceberg of progressive films making their silver-screen debut this year. With categories ranging from Most Radical Maneuver to Best Documentary and everything in between, the filmmakers are sure to get their fair share of loving.

Putting together the biggest night in surfing is never an easy task, but the staff here at SURFER is amped to say the least.
