Kelly Slater’s Surf Ranch is arguably the biggest innovation in surfing since Simon Anderson’s “Thruster,” Quiksilver is celebrating with a giveaway

This weekend the WSL will be hosting The Founder’s Cup global team surf event at the world-famous Surf Ranch. The Ranch’s coveted, Kelly Slater-created wave pool is arguably the biggest innovation in surfing since Simon Anderson’s invention of the three-fin Thruster design. Quiksilver (purveyors of the New Wave Pro boardshorts) will celebrate both groundbreaking milestones by awarding a Simon Anderson-shaped replica of the original Thruster model to the surfer that sticks this weekend’s best air in competition.

Since SURFER, admittedly, can’t stop romanticizing about Simon’s benevolent gift to our collective lives (see here, here and here), we jumped at the chance to partner with Quiksilver on the “Ode to Innovation” giveaway.
