According to the an article by the Times-Standard in Northern California, a surfer was attacked by a shark around 12pm today surfing the North Jetty in Humboldt—an area known to be frequented by great white sharks. According to an eyewitness, the victim survived the initial attack and was able to paddle himself to shore, but was losing a lot of blood in the process. He was rushed to the hospital to be treated for severe injuries to his abdomen, and at this time St. Joseph Hospital states that he is in fair condition.
