Since the 1980s, Oakley has been organizing a nation-wide contest series for America’s most core surf shop employees. It’s quite rad, actually. Within each geographical region of the U.S., four-man surf shop teams (comprised of two shop employees and two sponsored surfers) come together to battle it out for a regional title. Each winning team–from a total of six regional qualifiers–gets an all-expenses-paid trip to Nicaragua to compete for the national title. Which, if you think about it, is a pretty cool job perk for a surf shop employee. This year, six surf-obsessed crews traveled to Playa Colorado and went head-to-head for the winning trophy, which ultimately went to Catalyst San Clemente and the squad of Jack Hopkins, Kei Kobayashi, Nate Yeomans, and Kevin Tran.
