A benefit fundraiser for Bethany Hamilton, the young girl who lost her arm in a shark attack is planned for Saturday, November 15, 2003 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kauai Marriott Resort main ballroom.Rip Curl Surf Company and a group of family friends and supporters from Hawaii’s surf community are spearheading the event.Admission to the event is complimentary and donations are gratefully accepted. The event will feature continuous live entertainment featuring Graham Nash, Malani Bilyeu, Titus Kinimaka, Kanaloa, Tommy & Malia, Revival, Lost Pelican, Vic & the Victims, and Maulioli Cook. Food and refreshments will be offered at a minimum cost.An extensive Silent Auction will include donated items such as custom surfboards by Andy and Bruce Irons, A week vacation rental in California donated by U.S. Transfer Corporation, two cases of wine donated by Kendall Jackson wineries, 10 CD pack from a major recording company in Beverly Hills, two night stay donated by the Princeville Resort with Seafood Buffet for Two, Twin fin surfboard donated by Terry Chung, massages from Halelea Family Medicine, painting lessons from Patrice Pendarvis, dinner for two from Hanalei Gourmet, custom made surfboard up to 9 feet donated by Mark Sauzen and John Delaney and much more.All proceeds will go towards rehabilitation and prosthetic care that Bethany will need following her hospitalization.First Hawaiian Bank has arranged for donations to be made at their Lihue branch to the Friends of Bethany Hamilton at 4423 Rice Street, Lihue, Hawaii 96766.
