Just Add Water Premiere

This is a great movie. See it, buy it and show it to your friends. Okay so I'm a little biased being the director of the movie and all, but at least you'll know that by supporting this film you're backing a great cause. (A portion of the proceeds benefits Surfer's Healing – a foundation that introduces surfing to autistic children.)

Okay, now that we've got the pitch out of the way, onto the premiere. It was held on Sunday night at the Sameuli Theater, which is on the campus on the Orange County Performing Arts center and is an amazing place to show a movie. Sal Masakela was the host and he set the tone right away for a fun, feel good evening. The film not showcases Clay's incredible surfing, it also tells the poignant story of his Asperger's Syndrome diagnosis.

The packed crowd loved it. I've honestly never heard louder cheers or ovations for a film of any kind. Afterwards Sal asked the how many people in the audience cried during the movie and row after row of hands shot up.

Pinback, who was featured on the film's soundtrack, then took the stage and launched into a wide ranging set of songs from their adventurous catalogue of music. This San Diego band is super popular in these parts (they sold out this venue a few weeks back) and it was great to see them play up close and personal at a secret gig.

All in all – an amazing night. Making the movie was a long and often challenging process, but a night like this was just about the best end reward you could ask for.
