Some careers require you to dress up a lot. Surfing is not one of them.
While ultra-light stretchy neon viper boardshorts and quick-drying flexible python wetsuits are fancy indeed, they are not suit and tie fancy. And so professional surfers are often found in t-shirts, not tuxes. However, there is one night every year in which they must ditch their normal garb and get formal. That night is called the WSL Banquet. Shrimp cocktail is (most likely) served and it is awkward and amazing.
