How did you get into designing bikinis?
Ani Breslin: I grew up surfing in Southern California and Hawaii, so I've basically lived my whole life in a bikini. I'm obsessed. Once I learned how to sew, I started sewing my own teeny-tiny bikinis and that's when I realized it was what I wanted to do.

What's your perfect bikini?
I love my wrap around halter and cheeky Brazilians when I'm going for a surf. The wrap halter is such a sexy silhouette but it still stays in place when you need it. It's also easy to pair with some vintage cut offs for afterwards.

What inspires you as a designer?
Travel destinations, music, my hometown, street style. I love when you can capture a certain style by stepping out of the box and making a statement. That's what I aim to achieve in my swimwear designs. I want to be a staple in the swimwear industry and I believe that will come by keeping an open mind and being easily inspired.

What is one trend you predict will be hot next year?
Mixing and matching will become an even bigger trend. Reversible pieces are also making a big statement with contrasted lining and more for your money.

What is one trend that you think will not make it to 2014?
Diaper bottoms and full coverage. I'm not a fan.

What are some main influences behind your brand and its designs?
Staying true to what I love in vintage designs and one-of-a-kind pieces has influenced me the most. I like to keep the designs simple and wearable while using fabrics that make a statement and create a different aesthetic to every piece.

What would your dream vacation be?
I'm dying to go to Bali and Thailand. I want to beach hop and explore new places and waves, as well as see the culture, fabrics, and lifestyles happening there. I'm also dying to go to Eastern Europe and all around the Mediterranean Sea.
