A half-mile out to sea along the coast of Oregon sits Nelscott Reef, once a wave included in the Big-Wave World Tour. It’s not any longer, though, and the break behaves like if you were removed from an exclusive club — cold, reclusive, temperamental, a little sharky. But those inclement challenges are like cat-nip for the world’s big-name chargers, like Kai Lenny, who traveled to Oregon for a strike mission and got what some are calling the best barrel ever caught on film at the open-ocean wave.
